The fashion world has been shaken by the cancellation of the planned John Galliano: Horizons exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, which was set to become the centerpiece of the 2027 Met Gala. Announced only weeks earlier, the highly anticipated retrospective was expected to celebrate one of fashion’s most influential and controversial creative forces.
Instead, following intense public backlash, the exhibition has been cancelled.
The decision was announced on August 31, 2026, with Galliano and The Met jointly confirming that the planned exhibition would no longer proceed.
