By Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana

Dolce & Gabbana returned to one of its most enduring sources of inspiration for Spring/Summer 2027: Sicily. But rather than simply looking backward, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana transformed the house’s familiar codes into something freer, more personal and deliberately unexpected.

Presented during Milan Fashion Week, the collection, titled “Stravaganza Siciliana,” explored the relationship between generations, memory and personal style. The starting point was the wardrobe of a Sicilian family, where garments and objects are passed from grandmother to mother to daughter, acquiring new meaning with every wearer.

The result was a collection filled with lace, lingerie, leopard print, crochet, embroidery, tweed, damask, denim and elaborate jewellery—pieces that appeared to have traveled through generations before being thrown together in distinctly contemporary combinations.

The Art of Inheritance

The idea of inheritance sits at the heart of Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2027.

The house imagined opening the wardrobes of grand Sicilian homes and discovering decades of fashion history inside. Bodices, lace, jackets, jewellery and hand-worked trousseau pieces become the raw material for a new wardrobe.

But this isn’t vintage dressing in the conventional sense. The collection proposes that inherited clothing should not be preserved behind glass. Instead, it should be worn, mixed, altered and made personal.

A lace slip might appear beneath a structured jacket. An ornate embroidered piece can be paired with denim. A formal garment is stripped of its expected occasion and worn with something casual.

That tension between precious and everyday became one of the collection’s defining ideas.

Dolce & Gabbana’s official description frames the concept around generations of women sharing a wardrobe while each transforming what she inherits into something uniquely her own.

“Stravaganza Siciliana”

The collection’s title translates roughly to Sicilian extravagance, and extravagance remains central to the Dolce & Gabbana vocabulary.

Yet Spring 2027‘s extravagance isn’t simply about making clothes bigger, brighter or more decorated. It is about accumulation.

Jewellery is layered. Fabrics collide. Prints are mixed. Lace meets denim. Leopard appears beside delicate fabrics. Crochet sits alongside more structured tailoring.

The effect is intentionally eclectic.

The designers drew inspiration from the interiors and wardrobes of historic Sicilian homes, bringing elements such as damask, passementerie, upholstery fabrics and richly textured materials onto the body.

It creates the impression of a woman who has walked through an old family house and selected whatever catches her eye.

Nothing needs to belong to the same era.

Everything simply needs to feel personal.

Lace, Lingerie and the Dolce & Gabbana Woman

Lingerie has long been central to Dolce & Gabbana’s visual language, and Spring 2027 returned to that sensual vocabulary with renewed freedom.

Lace slips, corsetry-inspired pieces and lingerie details were integrated into everyday styling rather than treated exclusively as eveningwear.

The collection played with the idea of revealing what traditionally remains hidden. A slip dress could become the foundation of an outfit, while jackets, knitwear or other layers transformed its context.

This approach gives the lingerie-inspired pieces a less formal, more spontaneous attitude.

The result is unmistakably Dolce & Gabbana, but it feels less concerned with rigid rules about how a woman is supposed to dress.

Leopard Print Makes Another Statement

If there is one pattern that feels inseparable from Dolce & Gabbana, it is leopard.

For Spring 2027, the print returned in multiple forms and materials, extending beyond the traditional printed dress into outerwear, jackets, accessories and more elaborate surfaces.

The house’s official collection notes describe leopard as being reinterpreted through print, jacquard, satin, velvet, leather and three-dimensional treatments.

Its presence reinforces one of the collection’s central ideas: a familiar house code can remain recognizable while changing its context.

Leopard no longer needs to be worn in one particular way.

It can become romantic, glamorous, playful or deliberately excessive depending on what surrounds it.

One of the more dramatic runway moments paired an animal-print hooded cape with gold detailing and relaxed denim, demonstrating the collection’s desire to place traditionally glamorous pieces alongside everyday clothing.

Crochet and the Beauty of the Handmade

Crochet brought another layer of domestic memory to the collection.

Inspired partly by the handmade objects associated with Italian homes and family trousseaus, crochet was transformed into skirts, dresses and accessories.

What might ordinarily be considered humble or nostalgic became luxurious through craftsmanship and styling.

This was particularly important to the collection’s broader conversation about memory. Dolce & Gabbana wasn’t interested in recreating the past literally. Instead, the designers extracted objects, textures and techniques from the past and allowed them to exist within a modern wardrobe.

The same philosophy extended to lace and embroidery.

According to the house, hand embroidery incorporated details including coral, buttons, brooches and jewel-like embellishments, while traditional techniques were combined with three-dimensional floral effects and contemporary Dolce & Gabbana pieces.

From the Palace to the Street

One of the most interesting aspects of Spring 2027 is the collision between grandeur and everyday dressing.

The collection took materials associated with formal interiors and transformed them into clothing. Damasks and upholstery fabrics became dresses and jackets. Elaborate jewellery was layered without strict coordination. Embellished garments were paired with denim.

Even the styling suggested that luxury does not necessarily require a formal occasion.

This is where the collection speaks particularly clearly to a younger generation of fashion consumers.

Instead of treating heritage as something untouchable, Dolce & Gabbana proposes that heritage becomes more relevant when it can be disrupted.

The result is a wardrobe that feels assembled rather than prescribed.

The Return of the Dolce Jacket

Tailoring also received a reinterpretation.

The classic Dolce jacket, traditionally defined by a structured silhouette, was softened for Spring 2027. According to the house, the jacket becomes lighter and follows the body more closely, almost taking on the ease of a shirt. Trousers meanwhile introduce a flared silhouette influenced by the 1970s.

This shift is important because it prevents the collection’s nostalgia from becoming overly literal.

The references may come from previous generations, but the proportions and styling continually push them forward.

Vichy Checks and Romantic Florals

The collection’s visual vocabulary extended beyond black, lace and leopard.

Vichy checks appeared in unexpected combinations, while floral motifs drew inspiration from the 1920s and 1930s.

Chiffon, devoré and three-dimensional surfaces gave the florals movement and texture, creating another contrast between delicate femininity and the collection’s more assertive elements.

The combination of checks, florals, leopard, lace and ornate surfaces could easily have become overwhelming.

Instead, the collection embraced that excess.

That is precisely what makes the idea of “stravaganza” so important.

The clothes aren’t asking to be perfectly coordinated.

They are asking to be experienced.

Black Remains Essential

For all its colour and decoration, black remains one of Dolce & Gabbana’s strongest foundations.

Black jackets, lace dresses and lingerie-inspired silhouettes returned throughout the collection, preserving the visual connection to the house’s established identity.

But black was rarely presented in isolation.

Fringe, jewellery, lace, embroidery and unexpected layering gave familiar silhouettes new energy.

The result is a useful reminder that a fashion house can revisit its signatures without simply repeating them.

Jewellery as Memory

The accessories were almost as important as the clothes.

Pearls, crosses, cameos, coral, brooches, stones and talismans were layered together in deliberately abundant combinations.

Rather than selecting one perfect piece of jewellery, the Dolce & Gabbana woman appears to wear an entire history around her neck, wrists and ears.

The approach reinforces the collection’s central metaphor of inheritance.

A brooch might belong to a grandmother.

A necklace might have belonged to an aunt.

A cross might carry personal or cultural meaning.

A pearl might simply be beautiful.

Together, they become a portrait of individuality.

Vogue Italia similarly highlighted the collection’s use of layered pearls, crosses, cameos, coral, brooches, stones and talismans as part of its mix-and-match approach.

Accessories Continue the Maximalist Story

Bags followed the same philosophy.

Embroidered surfaces, gemstones, crochet and finely worked leather gave accessories a tactile quality, while decorated handles added another layer of ornamentation.

Rather than functioning as quiet finishing touches, the accessories participate fully in the collection’s visual conversation.

They are objects with their own personalities.

A New Generation of Dolce & Gabbana

Perhaps the most significant element of Spring 2027 is how the collection considers the future of Dolce & Gabbana through its past.

The house has never been afraid of strong signatures: black lace, corsetry, leopard print, Mediterranean sensuality, lingerie and dramatic glamour.

But those codes can only remain relevant if they continue to evolve.

“Stravaganza Siciliana” proposes one answer.

Take the codes that made the house famous, place them in the hands of a younger generation and allow them to be mixed differently.

The result is not minimal.

It isn’t quiet luxury.

It isn’t interested in disappearing into the background.

Instead, it celebrates personality.

That makes the collection feel particularly connected to the way fashion is increasingly worn today: through individual combinations rather than rigid aesthetic categories.

The Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2027 Mood

Spring 2027 Dolce & Gabbana is ultimately about memory without nostalgia.

The collection looks toward Sicily, family wardrobes, heirlooms, craftsmanship and generations of women, but it refuses to treat those references as untouchable.

An antique-looking lace piece can be worn with denim.

A formal jacket can become casual.

Leopard can become playful.

Crochet can become luxurious.

Jewellery can be layered without rules.

And a wardrobe inherited from another generation can become something completely new.

That is the central tension of “Stravaganza Siciliana”: preserving the identity of Dolce & Gabbana by allowing it to change.

The designers’ choice of a line from Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa’s The Leopard captures that philosophy: “If we want things to stay as they are, things will have to change.”

For Spring 2027, Dolce & Gabbana doesn’t abandon its past.

It opens the wardrobe, takes everything out, mixes it together—and lets the next generation decide what comes next.
