Selasi returned to the London Fashion Week runway for Spring 2027 with a collection that continued designer Ronan McKenzie‘s exploration of identity, heritage, Blackness and contemporary femininity.

The show marked the label’s second on-schedule London Fashion Week presentation, placing Selasi among the emerging independent names shaping the next generation of British fashion.

For Spring 2027, Selasi approached clothing as something deeply connected to personal history and self-expression. Rather than treating heritage as a static reference, the collection translated cultural memory into a modern wardrobe through expressive silhouettes, considered textures and an emphasis on the body.

A Collection Rooted in Identity

The philosophy behind Selasi has always been closely connected to questions of identity and heritage. The brand’s first collection, Chapter One, described the importance of understanding the depth and richness of brown skin, history and ancestral legacy. That foundation continues to inform McKenzie’s approach to fashion.

For Spring 2027, those ideas became part of a broader visual language. Selasi’s clothes feel personal rather than purely trend-driven, with garments designed to communicate something about the person wearing them.

The collection also reflects McKenzie’s background as an artist and creative director. Before establishing Selasi, McKenzie developed a reputation for working across photography, styling and fashion imagery, and that multidisciplinary perspective remains evident in the label’s presentation.

Sculptural Shapes and Fluid Dressing

The Spring 2027 collection plays with the relationship between structure and movement. Silhouettes appear sculpted around the body while maintaining a sense of fluidity, allowing the garments to move between statement dressing and contemporary everyday wear.

There is an intentional tension between fitted and relaxed proportions, creating looks that feel both grounded and expressive. Draping, elongated shapes and body-conscious elements contribute to Selasi’s distinctive visual identity.

Rather than relying on excessive decoration, the collection allows construction, proportion and material to create the impact.

Fashion as Personal Expression

One of the strongest aspects of Selasi’s Spring 2027 offering is its sense of individuality. The collection does not appear designed around a single definition of femininity. Instead, it leaves room for the wearer to bring their own personality to each look.

That approach feels particularly relevant within London’s current fashion landscape, where emerging designers are increasingly using clothing to explore identity, culture and personal experience. Selasi’s place on the Spring 2027 schedule alongside names such as Di Petsa, Tolu Coker and Liza Keane reflects the breadth of independent voices represented during London Fashion Week.

A Distinctive Selasi Aesthetic

McKenzie’s ability to combine fashion with image-making gives Selasi a particularly strong visual identity. The collection feels designed not only for the runway but also for the editorial world, where silhouette, skin, styling and movement become equally important parts of the story.

That quality makes Selasi particularly compelling as an emerging label. The clothes communicate a clear point of view while leaving enough space for interpretation.

Spring 2027 ultimately continues Selasi’s conversation around heritage and contemporary identity. It is a collection that treats fashion as more than clothing using shape, movement and styling to explore who we are, where we come from and how those histories can be expressed through what we wear.

As Selasi continues to develop under Ronan McKenzie’s direction, Spring 2027 establishes another chapter for a young London label building its identity through culture, individuality and modern fashion expression.
